🎥 Documentary by acclaimed gypsy guitarist Paco Fernández: an exploration of his legacy in the Gypsy families of Triana and Lebrija, two fundamental communities in the development and survival of flamenco culture. (45 min, Spanish with English sub-titles). Trailer HERE.

Included in UNESCO’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Flamenco would not be without the Spanish Romani (or gipsies).

Regrettably, the wonderful Romani community has endured centuries of racism, and still does so today. In his documentary, Francisco Fernández Vargas—“Paco Fernández”—brings forth some of the harsher historical events lived by the Spanish gypsies, presents the influence of caló (the gypsy language) on Spanish, and gives a candid view of present-day struggles and art of his people through his own personal experience and that of his artistic family.
